ABOUT
Warmia and Masuria is one of the most distinctive natural regions in Poland, often described as a ready-made film set. Known for its vast lakes, dense forests, and low population density, the region offers a sense of space, silence, and authenticity that is increasingly rare in Europe.
It has a long cinematic tradition, attracting filmmakers for decades thanks to its unique atmosphere and strong visual identity. The landscape naturally builds mood, making it particularly suited for intimate dramas, historical narratives, and visually driven storytelling.

LOCATIONS
The region is defined by water and nature. Hundreds of lakes, winding shorelines, and untouched forests create a wide range of natural backdrops. Small towns and villages preserve traditional architecture and scale, offering locations that feel authentic and unaltered. The area also features historical sites, rural landscapes, and open spaces that can double for various geographical settings. The visual consistency of the region allows productions to create entire worlds within a relatively compact area.

Production Support
Warmia–Masuria Film Fund provides financial support for film productions through regional co-financing schemes. The fund supports feature films, documentaries, and other audiovisual projects, with a focus on stories connected to the region or filmed on location. In addition to funding, productions can rely on local support in terms of location access and coordination. The region has hosted projects by renowned directors including Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański, and Jerzy Skolimowski, confirming its long-standing position on the film map. The fund emphasises creative freedom and supports projects that use the region’s unique landscape as a storytelling asset.
