ABOUT
Podkarpackie is one of the most untouched and visually distinctive regions in Poland, known for its open landscapes and strong sense of authenticity. Located in the south-east, it combines the wild nature of the Bieszczady Mountains with historic towns like Przemyśl.
The region stands out for its scale, low population density, and natural character, offering a rare sense of space that is increasingly hard to find in Europe.
02
LOCATIONS
The region offers a wide range of natural and architectural locations, from mountain ranges and forests to valleys and open plains. A defining feature is its wooden architecture — from traditional cottages and open-air museums in Sanok and Kolbuszowa to UNESCO-listed wooden churches. The region also includes castles and aristocratic residences such as Łańcut and Krasiczyn, as well as atmospheric villages like Jaśliska, all within relatively close distances. The variety of locations within a compact area makes the region highly flexible and efficient for production.
03
Production Support
Podkarpackie Film Commission provides support across all stages of production, including location scouting, permits, and access to local crews and services. The Podkarpacki Regionalny Fundusz Filmowy offers financial support for co-productions, covering both development and production stages. Productions filmed in the region include Zimna wojna (dir. Paweł Pawlikowski), Boże Ciało (dir. Jan Komasa), IO (dir. Jerzy Skolimowski), Disco Boy (dir. Giacomo Abbruzzese), Kos (dir. Paweł Maślona) and Pojedynek (dir. Łukasz Palkowski). The region is known for its openness and strong cooperation with filmmakers throughout the production process.
